In anticipation of celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 4th March today's blog is all about books...sort of...
I've had a large book crate in the 'Children & Babies' Collection since I launched last March...it's ideal for keeping all your children's books together and looks great stacked with my toy crates. I've now decided to add a new small book crate into the mix, especially for World Book Day (it will go live on the website on the 4th March- use WBD10 for 10% off)...here's a first look at it...
The small crate fits all of Lexi's favourite Julia Donaldson books and characters in perfectly. The rest of her books (she has quite a collection) are on a bookshelf but I'm quite excited about the idea of using the small crate for a themed rotation; swapping her Gruffalo bits out for her farm books and sack of wooden animals or nursery rhyme books and toys, for example. I've found little characters and props can really bring a story to life for Lexi, they've really helped with her vocabulary and she loves using them to tell me the stories. Today's guest blog writer, Danielle makes the most beautiful peg dolls for different stories and occasions, I'll hand over to her now so she can tell you all about her small business Mrs Montie Makes...
My name is Danielle and I’m the Watford based mummy behind Mrs Montie Makes. I currently specialise in wooden peg dolls but I’m hoping to expand my range this year. I’m also a primary school teacher and mum to two mini Monties ( Reagan, 5 and Emilia, 1).
I started my small business during the first lockdown after creating some peg dolls for Emilia’s christening - fast forward to 2021 and I’m close to nearly 100 sales on my Etsy. I love how open ended peg dolls can be and wanted to create a safe and fun product for the market. All my products are UKCA tested which means they are safe for little hands of 10m+.
One of my favourite things to paint are traditional story-tales. You can use them to act out the story, use them as characters inside play set ups, story recollection, enhancing engagement and early reading skills - the list goes on. I have a few collections now at Mrs Montie Makes!
Lots of peg doll sellers have their own niche product and I am so proud of mine - PARTIMALS - party animals for special occasions. The animals come hand painted with party hats, party crowns and balloons. My newest addition is the party unicorn! Come over and join me on Instagram to see a selection of my peggies @mrsmontiemakes or find me on my Etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/MrsMontieMakes
You can get your large book crate on the website here now for £32.50 with FREE UK delivery. Small book crates will be £24.99 with FREE UK delivery and will be available here from the 4th March. If you would like a book crate but want to alter the design please contact me to discuss it.
